About the cosplay

The peasant princesses were always my favorite as a kid, so here I go adding another to my list! For Snow White's peasant look, I wanted to take cultural and historical inspiration from German dirndls, keeping mostly to natural fibers (the only exceptions being some of the patches made from scrap fabric) & even ordering some actual dirndl hooks for the front lacing on her stays.

The name of this game was texture!--the linen of the skirt, frayed edges at the bottom, silkey black ribbon against embroidered cotton and metal heart-shaped drindl hooks, the subtle pattern of the under blouse and fichu and unexpected embroidery on the apron, and of course the bit of pattern on the blue cotton of her bow and the wood of clogs and Snow's bucket. I had quite a fun time choosing each material, making sure I liked the colors together.
