Alecto

ALECTO!

I had been playing with a new Alecto design for a while, and when the Katsu Cosplay Couture Gala announced the official theme for 2024 as "Wild Earth," I took it as a sign to finally lock down a new, more fashion-forward look for her. The openness of the design allowed this to become a stash busting project, utilizing all sorts of left over scraps and even former cosplays for all the layers. Appropriately or unfortunately, the gown cannibalized my last Alecto dress into its' tatters as well. I wanted to combine the historical look of stays (from my old Christmas Past cosplay) with a very modern and sexy slit in one side. The tattered layers are meant to represent ghostly essence, with rocks, crystals, and faux frost to represent ice & salt. The bluegreen textured fabric that runs up one side of the gown was a repurposed curtain meant to resemeble ocean waves. Finally, the look is held together with chains of varying sizes in place of the chains that once held Alecto to her slab in the ancient tomb she once called home. There are nine tiny skulls hidden throughout the gown, and I'm very proud that I managed to get them all sewn on before the convention!
